Republic of Korea Navy
I suppose this is blatant advertising/propaganda for the ROK Navy. I've a bit of a soft spot for the ROKs. I served there for 4 years 9 months and some days. My first wife and mother of my children is Korean. Every Korean I worked with or knew there was unceasingly polite and kind to me (and I'm not so sure that such behavior was always deserved). So, 나의 한국 친구를 위해

I once thought that the PRC military, while having huge numbers and dedicated soldiers, was relatively unsophisticated. As you can see here they at least have the public relations angle down pat.
Finland and The Winter War
I don't have any Finnish ancestors that I know of. Nobody currently living in my family is Finnish. Yet, I can't help but have an abiding respect for the Finns. They successfully resisted Soviet domination for years. The sound goes screwy on the second video so you might want to turn down the sound...
Royal Australian Air Force F-111 sinks North Korean drug ship. After being caught trying to smuggle drugs into Australia the Pong Su was sunk by two 2000-pound (900 kg) laser-guided bombs dropped from an RAAF F-111 aircraft. The deliberate destruction of the freighter was said to deliver a strong message to international drug smuggling rings that the Australian Federal Government would take all measures necessary to stop illegal drug importation.
Do you think that did the trick? I'm thinking North Korea is now working on using an old diesel sub to do their exporting work now.
"Here's video footage of the Japanese Coast Guard tracking and engaging a north korean spy trawler. The events occur over several hours of daylight and night. It looks like the NK spy trawler refused to be boarded after warning shots with a minigun, it was set afire, stayed afloat, rammed, then the NK's shot at the JCG with automatic rifle fire and RPG(s). Then the Japanese crews really opened up on them and the spy trawler was set afire again and exploded. The last few seconds show the damage to the JCG vessel(s). Please add details if you can read Japanese and if you can find an English transcript about the fight."
Ok, so it is an OLD video. Maybe done to death in another time. I don't care. No trawler carts around RPGs... This interests me because all Chinese and Korean stories interest me. I also think it demonstrates that the North Korean government (i.e. Kim Jong Il) is a bubble off in the international relations deparment. It is as if they want to antagonize the Japanese.
For us, the American ideal is personified in the concept of self-reliance, work ethic, honesty/forthrightness, decency, personal property rights, family, religion, an ability to defend oneself from criminals and crooked politicians, and personal responsibility.
