Nomination of Judge Sotomayor to U.S. Supreme Court
I'm posting this here because I believe this is a 2nd Amendment concern. I don't believe that her ethnicity (it is not race) or her gender are of a concern except they seem to define her in her mind as separate and better than me.
"...I must call upon all members of the administration to step down unless they are Latinas, and upon President Obama to ensure they do so forthwith.”
I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn’t lived that life.”
I suppose that a wise white male with the richness of his personal experiences might reach a better conclusion than a racist/sexist person of any race. I don't feel that I or anyone like me would receive a fair hearing in her court. But, the real concern for me is that this Judge feels it is her prerogative to legislate from the bench. She epitomizes the idea that "empathy" is more important on the bench than impartiality or legal precedence.

True or not, firearms owners are perceived to be white, male and older. This perception is used as a marketing tool by the anti-gun ownership people. Selection of a Supreme Court justice who reviles this group and uses "empathy" as the basis for rulings does not bode well for gun owners.

  Memorial Day - 2009

I know, the "holiday" is the 25th. The 30th is the "traditional" day of observance. If you observed the official thing, I think you're safe if you observe on the 30th as well.

There are many who have served. Many bear scars or rest forever in foreign soil as a result of their service. Many families are forever changed by the loss of these men and women. It is for these cherished national heroes that we take time this day to mark their graves and remember their names.

In Flanders Fields
By: Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, MD (1872-1918) Canadian Army

In Flanders Fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

In remembrance of those of my own family who have served...

  'Splain this to me...
Why does the POTUS, Barack "Barry" Hussein Sotero Obama, say that we must close Gitmo because having the detention center there is ignoring our core principals while at the same time he's ignoring core principals in how he's handling the banks and car companies?

Just words?

Nancy Pelosi, Incompetent Boob or Liar
Despite EVIDENCE to the contrary, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi persists in her foolish denials that she was aware of the use of waterboarding, aka enhanced interrogation techniques, a way back when the CIA briefed the House Intelligence Committee. You watch the video of her press conference and you can see that she's lying. Lying, you know, means that she knows she isn't telling the truth when she talks. Now, like former President Bill Clinton, she's having to back down.

All I can say in her defense is that she didn't disclose any secrets as Joe Biden did.

  Joe Biden is a Clown
I can't believe that he is sober when he says some of the things he says. The latest? He discloses the location of a secret bunker intended to keep HIM (as Vice-President) safe. What a putz...

More Like Pelosi vs. the Truth
I saw this on Drudge hyped as Pelosi vs the CIA.  It is more like Pelosi vs. the Truth.  Of course this granny can't tell the truth...

Just how damn stupid are people? Stupid enough to think an umbrella is a gun...

COUNCIL BLUFFS -- The Mall of the Bluffs reopened Tuesday after authorities found their man -- and his umbrella.

Officers race to Mall of the Bluffs, but the "weapon" turns out to be an umbrella.

The mall closed for about 45 minutes after someone reported seeing a man with a gun.

Part of the mall was evacuated, and other areas were locked down at 12:45 p.m. Omaha police were asked to bring trained dogs over to assist in a search of the mall. Two Bluffs schools -- Abraham Lincoln High School and Pusey Elementary -- near the mall were locked down.

The hoopla ended about 1:30 p.m., when police found their "suspect" -- a man carrying a dark umbrella, not a gun.

Police Sgt. Ray Mabbitt said the man walked into the Skeeter Barnes restaurant in the mall with the large umbrella over his shoulder. He was just minding his own business, Mabbitt said.

Cara Remmert was shopping with her infant son at Fred Meyer's Jewelers, near the children's play area in the mall.

"We saw people grab their kids and just start running,'' she said after police escorted her from the mall. "Then we saw cops . . . coming in.''

A steady stream of officers raced to the area from the Council Bluffs Police Department, the Pottawattamie County Sheriff's Office, the Iowa State Patrol, the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, the U.S. Marshals Service and the Omaha Police Department.

Mabbitt estimated that the first officer arrived within minutes. The Von Maur department store shootings in Omaha taught law enforcement officials a valuable lesson, he said.

"We learned that there has to be a rapid response by multiple agencies in order to have the manpower,'' Mabbitt said.

This report includes material from the World-Herald News Service.

I could go on and on about how stupid one has to be to confuse a gun and an umbrella. I don't think even Mr. Magoo could go that far wrong. Stupid, stupid people. OR maybe with an agenda?

Gun - Umbrella-

  Former Vice President Dick Cheny
Hoorah for VP Cheney. I really admire this guy. He's saying what I say but people listen to him. People like Dem/S Specter and Olympia Snow are not the people I want to support. During the past election I didn't vote for McCain, I'voted for Governor Palin and/or AGAINST Obama. I don't want socialism/communism/statism. I want liberty. I want freedom.

Canadians Can See the President Hates His Own Country
In the article, The President Who Hates His Country, at least some Canadians acknowledge what we've been saying for at least 2 years now. President Obama hates this country. He's doing all he can to destroy it.

  Senator Specter Gets His
EVERYBODY hates a traitor. E.g. many of us don't much care for our self-serving Senator, Jim Webb. But Specter took the cake and now he's not going to get the seniority he was promised PLUS he'll have opposition in the Democratic primary... Good news.

  Domestic Extremism Lexicon
Here's another wonderful product from the Obama administration's DHS, the Domestic Extremism Lexicon. How are YOU described therein?

Judge Sotomayor, possible nominee for SCOTUS, admits activism...
Judicial activism has reduced freedom and liberty for ALL Americans. Like those schoolyard baseball umpires who rule for their favorite team, judicial activists so reduce faith in the system that they ultimately destroy it. Here, Judge Sotomayor admits and then self-edits the judicial activism in which she believes. This is NOT the sort of person we want on the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS).

  Random Thoughts
Justice Souter is going to retire. I don't know why and I don't care. Now, the talk is all about his replacement and how that person should represent this or that gender, race, ethnicity, etc. Not a word about being an outstanding jurist. Why not? Are "they" afraid that a JURIST would have to rule against their anti-constitutional acts? That's what I'm thinking...

The "swine" flu is apparently cause for great concern. Egyptians are stupidly slaughtering pigs, people are avoiding pork products, wearing masks and otherwise acting like frightened school children. Meanwhile the only people who have died are those who already had compromised immune systems and the total number of dead from this particular disease is about 10 out of 6-BILLION+. That's right, TEN, that's T-E-N. I'm calling BS on this one. What is this distraction REALLY about?

One thing the "swine" flu has showed us is that Joe Biden and Janet Napolitano are idiots. At least a few people are noticing...

Have you noticed how many 50-somethings are dying lately? I'm not including the suicides... Have you noticed how many suicides have been reported lately?

Why do the Republicans in Augusta County (Virginia) think they can fool us with a 10-cent tax rate decrease when the end result of the fraudulent tax assessment is a 10-cent tax rate INCREASE? I wish I could vote in Augusta County. Of course we have the same stupid liars in Staunton...

The stock market has rallied. Ok. So I'll be happy when it is back at 14,000... I'd hate to tell you how much my family has lost in stock value. Clearly the annointed one doesn't want us to have it back either. I'm not holding my breath waiting on that either...

The ecoidiots in Congress want to force cap and trade down our throats to save us all from climate change (they had to change the name from global warming because that was so obviously a lie). Of course these pseudoscientists (actually Gaia religionists) haven't a clue that people can't really control the climate in much of any lasting way. In doing so they will be stealing from us an ever increasing, by estimates, amount of money they haven't the nerve to admit is another tax. The current estimate is in excess of $3,000 a year.

Miss California continues to be the subject of intolerant hateful attacks by gays calling for tolerance of their lifestyle. Here's my take. If you can't help it it isn't a 'lifestyle'. If you can help it it isn't normal which makes it a perversion which makes you a pervert.

I've got another question. Just why is a homosexual man judging a beauty contest?

Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-IL)admitted that the Obama health care plan will destroy the private health insurance industry. I guess they will shut her up ASAP.

Let me tell you folks. I've had government health care all my adult life, in the military and as a retiree, and it sucks when it is run by people who might actually care about me as one of them. What makes you think it will work when it is run by faceless bureaucrats who don't give a fig if you live or die?

And one more thing about that last, Obama said that old people were costing too much for health care. In other words, old people use too much in health care resources. Has anybody seen "Logan's Run"?

For us, the American ideal is personified in the concept of self-reliance, work ethic, honesty/forthrightness, decency, personal property rights, family, religion, an ability to defend oneself from criminals and crooked politicians, and personal responsibility.

Whoop-ti-do, the forum for the rest of us...
