Open Letter to Senator Webb
Sir:
My e-mail might also be titled "Is Senator Webb Deaf on Health Care?" Why? Because here what I hear from or about you is an apologist view that this bill should be passed and you only need to convince the stupid voter to accept it.
You've set up a special e-mail account to hear from us but it seems to me that you aren't hearing those of us who have been contacting you through your regular contact page for months now. It makes me think that you are more beholding to the Democrat National Committee than you are to the citizens of the Commonwealth of Virginia. That is disturbing.
The government is killing, either through benign neglect or (with this bill) funding cuts, Medicare and Medicaid. The government is failing to support active duty veterans of the current conflict as well as veterans of all ages to whom much was promised for their service. The Veterans Administration support of veterans is a joke. Tricare seems a mere gesture especially for those of us considered "remote". Now you want to leave all that behind and support a public option (or whatever PC phrase by which the party might try to describe it today).
Additionally, at a time of economic difficulty the means of paying for this largesse is to STEAL via taxation from anyone who has a spare dollar (or not) and to do so for generations to come. In an attempt to disguise this theft, it has been proposed that we actually pay for this for FIVE years before anyone gets any benefits! Would you pay for a car for FIVE years before you could drive it?
You might think you are wiser than the vast majority of your constiuency but if you vote for this crap you certainly can't be. I want you to vote NO on any of these bills, particularly these 1500-page bills that seek to tax us all into poverty to pay for health care that you yourself (and your "peers" in congress) don't think is worthy of your participation. VOTE NO on more taxes, VOTE NO on more spending, and VOTE NO on more government control of OUR lives.
Let me know what you, as MY representative, are going to do.
Sincerely,
