Do you get the point?
Prince Charles urges people to abandon car in favour of walking and public transport but of course he doesn't.
The Prince, who has two Jaguars, two Audis, a Range Rover and still drives an Aston Martin given to him by the Queen on his 21st birthday, said developers had a duty to put public transport and the pedestrian at the heart of their housing schemes.
Speaking about the “domination of the car over the pedestrian”, the future King said: “We must surely be able to organise ourselves... in ways in which we are not dependent on it to such a great extent for our daily needs."
Why? Because he's one of the privileged classes. He is "royalty" (in the UK) and it is clear that he knows his place. This is the point.
We've heard a lot of politicians try to tell us, the rest of us, what to do in cutting back on energy consumption, food consumption, even what food to eat and clothing to wear, all in the name of combating global warming/climate change. Never mind that our actions have but a minor effect on the global climate, these folks tell you and me what to do but don't do any of it themselves.
Al Gore flew in private jets all over the world to push his global warming and private enrichment agenda. House Speaker Pelosi tried to get the government to provide her (using your tax dollars) a huge private jet for her convenience in flying back and forth from California to Washington D.C.
What is good for the rest of us isn't something that is good for "them", the powers that be. They get better, deserve better, demand better, than what you and I have. Capitalism has driven down the cost of true luxury (time and labor saving machines and entertainment devices) so that we and they aren't all that different. They realize that there isn't much real difference between the Hyundai and the Jaguar and that the Hyundai might even be more reliable. They see that your flatscreen TV is no different from theirs. They see that you don't work much harder than they do. They see that you are just as warm and dry and cool (when needed) as they are. They don't like that you are as well off in real terms as they are. They realize that gold plating, fancy logos, and cool sounding brand names have no substance and they don't like it. They want to be above you, to be more comfortable, to work less, to have opportunities to enjoy life in ways you can't and they resent that they aren't in that position. To be there they have to bring us down.
One way to do that is to remove our small comforts, labor saving and energy using devices and personal transportation by the ruse of prevention of global warming/climate change. So the Prince is willing to tell you to take the bus while he drives his Aston Martin...
