Thoughts on the Congressional Pay Raise
Congress has
permitted their pay increase to take effect. They could stop it, but haven't. You might have to wait for a pay raise, maybe take a pay cut or even lose your job but the congressional elites have let their pay climb on up there. It isn't as if they have to pay for health care and such. So why? Because they or their predecessors set things up such that the pay goes up automatically.
Now it has been pointed out that the raise is 2.8% (an average of $4700)which is less than half of the Social Security cost of living adjustment. Doesn't matter. These folks are not producing for us and if you don't produce for your employers (and that is what we are to them) you don't get a raise.
Actually, Congress has increased unemployment by something like 3%, caused the DOW average to fall from 14,000+ to 8,500 (perhaps less or a little more as you read this), reduced the nation's net worth by $6-TRILLION (!), and committed over $4.5-TRILLION of OUR money to people who are failures at business! As far as I'm concerned Congress should be working for free. No, I take that back, perhaps if they'll just QUIT working, passing stupid, intrusive laws and stealing our money otherwise we'll go ahead and pay them to sit on their tuckus.
