  Katrina Anniversary
I'm tired of Katrina. I'm tired of private citizens wanting the government to bail them out for choosing to live in a bowl AND elect liars and cheats to oversee public servants who were supposed to be protecting them. I'm tired of hearing that Katrina was a Cat 5 when it was actually a Cat 1-2 at New Orleans. I'm tired of hearing that New Orleans residents have been abandoned when folks from Florida to Texas suffered worse from hurricanes that year.

Want to rebuild in New Orleans. Fix the levees (really fix them), build all the new houses on stilts or design the new houses so that the bottom story is a giveaway to the flood or don't allow new houses AND build only on the most elevated land. Make the rest of New Orleans green space. Throw out the crooks and petty despots that are in New Orleans government now.

Oh, and if I might give you this link. Read it.

For us, the American ideal is personified in the concept of self-reliance, work ethic, honesty/forthrightness, decency, personal property rights, family, religion, an ability to defend oneself from criminals and crooked politicians, and personal responsibility.
