  Home Invasion and New Orleans
You might be asking how I'm going to connect the two, Home Invasion and New Orleans, but I don't have to. The critters (as they are referred to by Lawdog) have done that by invading a house and shooting 7 family members, killing 2 of them.
A man in his late 20s and a woman in her late 30s sustained fatal wounds, making the incident the second double-homicide in the area in the last two weeks. A husband and wife were killed 15 doors away two weeks ago, but police have found no connections between the two attacks.

However, the pair of double-slayings follows a trend of home invasions in eastern New Orleans typically involving groups of gunmen using similar tactics.
Doesn't that get your attention? I mean, this is in a city where the Mayor and TWO Chiefs of Police have strongly supported and resisted ending firearms confiscation. In other words, the government of the City of New Orleans is illegaly confiscating firearms, disarming citizens. Should we be surprised that criminals are emboldened and willing to seek out violent confrontation in pursuit of their criminal activities? In my mind, the Mayor Nagin and his last two Chiefs of Police are culpable in these murders.

And then there are other murders (aside from those 15 doors from the above incident), which makes me think that New Orleans is NOT a place to vacation. Heck, you don't want to live there! Oh, the filthy streets, the threat of loss of all your property to a hurricane, high taxes and corrupt government isn't the end of your troubles as a resident of New Orleans. Now, home invasion is a growth industry and it is abetted by the Mayor.

For us, the American ideal is personified in the concept of self-reliance, work ethic, honesty/forthrightness, decency, personal property rights, family, religion, an ability to defend oneself from criminals and crooked politicians, and personal responsibility.
