We're really going to have to keep a close eye on this newcomer, she's got potential! U.S. Representative Kirsten Gillibrand, D-NY20, defended her vote to kill a House reprimand of U.S. Rep. Jack Murtha, telling the Albany Times Union late yesterday that “the resolution essentially convicted Murtha without due process.”I think she's got the big lie thing down pat.
Gillibrand failed to note that her vote actually prevented the House of Representatives from even debating the measure. Under House Rules, a privileged resolution could be debated for at least one hour, allowing both Democrats and Republicans to make such arguments on the House floor.
