Lewis "Scooter" Libby, et al
Scooter Libby has been convicted of four counts of perjury and obstruction of justice. Give me a break. Why weren't the other "liars" as those journalists having poor/incomplete memories not indicted and tried? Why was Richard Armitage not indicted and tried? He's the one that actually outed (after Wilson) femme fatale Plame as a CIA "agent". Why wasn't Plame indicted and tried for using her influence to improperly get her husband the gig to investigate yellowcake?
Frankly, my faith, my apparently NAIVE faith, in the US judicial system is waning. We see prosecuters from Durham to Tempe to Washington DC abuse their positions to persecute, we see juries convict the obviously innocent on POLITICAL grounds AND ADMIT IT. The POTUS won't stand up for JUSTICE and issue pardons. Then, on the other hand, prosecutors cut deals with criminals even as those criminals commit crimes failing to even prosecute them.
I suppose some will see this as a pitiful attempt to support the Republicans. Not my view at all. What really worries me is that the vast majority of folks see these developments as acceptable. There's no outcry, no anger, no indignation. If it supports their political view it is even laudable. If not, well, no big thing.
So, this is how a great nation, a defender of freedom, liberty, of the oppressed across the world is going to destroy itself. I suppose I should thank God that I lived in the golden age and let my descendents return to living as my ancestors once lived, in something less than what should be.
