Kerry Belittles U.S. TroopsCan one believe this guy? Soldiers aren't drafted, they are educated with a large percentage having some college, many, many with at least an associate degree. Many senior NCOs (E-6 and above) have Bachelor and even Master's degrees, many of these NCOs actually having more education than the junior officers that lead them. The disparity is even greater in the reserves where many enlisted are college students.
But that's not the whole story. Unlike during periods where the draft has been in effect only the best can enlist. Did you know that 72% of the US youth population can't meet enlistment standards? Did you know that 100% of the US Armed Forces are volunteers?
John Kerry should keep his arrogant opinions to himself, it would certainly be a benefit to his party.
