Am I Silly?
I've just gotten back from a bus tour of part of the Southwest USofA. From Salt Lake City to Moab to Durango to Sante Fe. Got to see some absolutely beautiful scenery and, as always, meet some wonderful folks. Today, I'm thinking, am I silly?
Am I silly,
- to want to physically preserve this country?
- to want to preserve our economic security?
- to want to preserve the LIVES of these wonderful people that I met?
- to love my family and want to keep them safe?
Apparently, I am silly. Ok, maybe not silly, maybe stupid or selfish? Must be. Even Israel has acquiesed to a cease fire that will likely be nothing more than yet another opportunity for a Hezbollah to re-arm and re-organize for yet another go at Israel and US!
Must be.
Condoleeza Rice, the US Secretary of State, has been encouraging this course of action.
Must be. Connecticut's Democrats selected a rabid socialist, anti-US, anti-war candidate over the far-left-of-center Joe Lieberman!
Must be. Iran is threatening us and we aren't ready to nuke the whole darned place.
Must be. The press is
still paying attention to Cindy "Mother" Sheehan and her fake hunger strike.
Let's put it another way. A nation, a country, is nothing more than a really big team made up of all its citizens. No team can win if the players aren't wanting to win. Our side doesn't seem to want to win. If we don't want to win, we won't. The result of that is everything I
don't want.
Silly me?
Iran's despot of the moment has promised that the USofA will pay and I think it is more likely that that statement is true than the statements made that they don't want nuclear weapons (which they have, themselves, contradicted). Well, I'm upping my stockpile of consumables like food and bottled water just in case that there is a disruption of the distribution of food, electricity, and so forth.
Silly me?
