title>Lady Liberty Defended: Update on National CHP Reciprocity
2. A call from Senator Allen's office
****************************************************
VCDL members, you are a force to be reckoned with. Your calls and emails are making a difference! On Friday, Senator George Allen's office called to thank VCDL for supporting the Senator's bill, S.3275, which opens up nationwide recognition of CHPs. VCDL was also thanked for being a measured, reasoned voice countering the few
misguided gun groups which are trying to get the bill killed.
In the message from the Senator's aide, the Senator is seriously considering the suggestions made by VCDL to improve S.3275! (We are asking that the Federal Government recognize CHPs on it's land and in its buildings.)
For those groups against S.3275 because it supports *licensing* of a right (to carry concealed), that horse left the barn a long, long time ago. Forty-seven states already license concealed concealed carry in some form.
And for the argument that the bill is a 'Trojan Horse,' which could be used to put minimum restrictions on concealed carry states, I don't buy it. A new bill would have to be submitted and signed into law to do such a thing. And that could be done with or without S.3275 being passed into law and wouldn't make it without a major
fight from gun owners.
My question is this, "how many law-abiding CHP holders will have to be killed while travelling unarmed in non-reciprocal/non-recognition states before the nay-sayers support a bill like S.3275?"
VCDL has grabbed the torch and is leading the way.
If you have not yet contacted Senator Allen's office, please do so to show support for S.3275.
As I have said before, this is a major chance to move our ability to defend ourselves and our families forward by a huge step nationwide. DON'T let this opportunity pass us by and DON'T let any misguided or misinformed gun-groups torpedo this bill!

Dear Senator Allen,
Thank you for putting in S.3275! I appreciate your efforts to allow me to protect myself and my family in all 50 states!
I strongly urge you to extend the bill to require the Federal government to honor concealed handgun permits on all of its public lands and public buildings. That would solve the problem of the current ban on carrying in National Parks, Washington DC, etc. and it would also take away any hint of a 'do as I say and not as I do'
situation as the Federal government would be leading the way.
Please let me know what you are going to do.
Sincerely,
