Al Zarqawi - Why Dead?
I've been listening to so MANY idiots today asking why Zarqawi was killed not captured, was he killed after capture, and so forth. These ideological morons are just plain ignorant about what a 500 lb bomb does.
Let's imagine you're sitting in your concrete/cinder block house with a concrete roof. A 500 lb bomb comes through the roof (because this is one way to sneak up on the SOB without endangering innocent locals) and you are more than a bit stunned. The USAF double-taps the target with a second 500 lb bomb and the house is pancaked. The local gendamarie shows up and "rescues" you from the rubble. EVERYONE else was KILLED by one of the two bombs. You are so injured you can't or won't resist. Then, horror of horrors, you look up and see your hated enemy, those that you fear more than any others, even more than the police that have put you on the stretcher and in a panic you roll off the stretcher onto the ground and collapse, then die. What killed you? Massive internal bleeding due to overpressure and/or blunt trauma caused by the bombs. It is a miracle you survived in the first place.
What in heck should we expect, that American soldiers should needlessly risk their lives and the lives of local Iraqi residents by attempting to capture this fellow? If they had the left would have made much of that as well. Frankly, I think it is so much crap from folks who haven't got much else going for them.
